Campus Climate Survey

In February, 2013, the Interpersonal Violence Task Force administered a Campus Climate Survey as part of an agreement with the Office of Civil Rights. This data will be used as a benchmark for Appalachian's progress in the continual improvement of safety for everyone on our campus, and the task force will follow up with another survey in two years to measure progress.

This electronic survey was administered electronically to faculty, staff and students via email. Over 22% of our community members participated by completing the survey and sharing their thoughts and perspectives.

The Interpersonal Violence Task Force appreciates so many of you taking time this past semester to complete the Campus Climate Survey. We are working diligently every day to address the critically important and complex issues surrounding the prevention of interpersonal violence, as well as compliance with Title IX and the Clery Act. Every voice in our community is important to this work, and we strive for the greatest possible transparency. In the interest of transparency, we are making the raw survey data available for review on our site.

Currently, a sub-group of the task force, along with our partners in Institutional Research, Assessment and Planning, is analyzing the data and the many responses that were submitted. Later this summer, the Interpersonal Violence Task Force’s full report and recommendations will be shared with the campus community. On behalf of the entire task force, we appreciate your support of our work this past year. If you have any thoughts with regards to our collective work regarding interpersonal violence, please contact either of us.
